Fiber CSA
Shareholders are the heart of the Fiber CSA. You can share in the harvest at Jacob’s Reward Farm to connect personally with your spinning and knitting fiber.
CSA shareholders equally divide 100% of our farm’s fiber harvest once a year–alpaca fiber in several colors and both white and colored rare breed sheep wool, processed and ready to spin. We also include quality fiber from other local ranchers and shepherds, spreading the community support to small fiber producers in our area.
How it works: We begin selling our shares in the fall for the following spring’s shearing of alpaca fiber and sheep wool. The animals are usually sheared in March, and the fiber is cleaned here at the farm during the spring and summer. Our fiber mill friends in Utah process the clean fiber into rovings, and return it to us in the fall for distribution to our shareholders.
Historically, shareholders have received 20-26 ounces of fiber in their shares, in varying proportions of wool and alpaca fiber. Every year is a little different, and we do our best to see that the shares are satisfactory in quantity and quality.
